The CPD Program for Cosmetic Nurses bundles together online lectures + grants you access to an interactive journal club to selected articles through the Journal of Aesthetic Nursing (JAN). These lectures focus on a range of topics specific to the practice of cosmetic medicine.

1 CPD Hour

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Understand the knowledge of anatomical and aesthetic differences between Asian and Caucasian face
  • Identify the aesthetic approach with muscle relaxants for the Asian face
  • Understand and analyse the aesthetic approach with dermal fillers for the Asian face
  • Understand the dangers of treating the Asian face
  • Understand the awareness of cultural contexts in cosmetic treatments for the Asian face

1 CPD Hour

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Describe the pathophysiology of menopause.
  • Identify signs and symptoms of vaginal atrophy post menopause.
  • List the benefits and risks of HRT and understand the current view on HRT.
  • Explain the effects of micro-ablative fractional CO2 laser on the vaginal canal.
  • List the advantages of fractional CO2 for vaginal rejuvenation.

1 CPD Hour

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Understand what labiaplasty surgery involves and the increasing demand for this surgery
  • Understand the common demographic characteristics of labiaplasty patients
  • Understand common surgical motivational categories (appearance, physical, sexual, and psychological)
  • Understand the factors that are proposed to promote genital appearance concerns (media and peer comments)
  • Understand body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and why BDD is considered to be a contraindication to cosmetic treatment

2 CPD Hours

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Understand the structural composition of fat
  • Define and explain the difference between saturated and unsaturated fats
  • Identify the health benefits of unsaturated fats
  • Define and explain the difference between essential and non-essential fatty acids
  • Understand the role of essential fatty acids in common skin conditions
  • Understand the importance of the Omega 3 to 6 ratio in reducing inflammation

3 CPD Hours

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Describe the pathophysiology of all components of the cell.
  • Analyse the importance of cell ultra-structures
  • Interpret cellular responses and how they can contribute to changes in skin quality and ageing
  • Summarise the theories associated with the ageing process and why they are important.
  • Explain the effects of cellular ageing/damage and how it results in illness or disease.
  • Examine the role of the practitioner in this area.
  • Discuss how this contributes to the holistic care of the patient

2 CPD Hours

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Understand the knowledge of an overview of digital marketing and how it relates to the National Law in advertising a health service.
  • Identify and rationalize the AHPRA  Guidelines for Advertising a Health Service
  • Identify and rationalize the NMBA Social Media Policy
  • Evaluate Digital Marketing and Social Media Policy application
  • Understand the penalties and consequences of breach of the National Law in advertising a health service.

2 CPD HOURS

Key Learning Outcomes (KLOs) :-

*Understand what constitutes a healthy gut microbiome

*Understand the importance of maintaining a healthy gut microbiota in order to avoid conditions associated with dysbiosis

*Identify the difference between probiotics and prebiotics

*Make appropriate recommendations based on the treatment protocol to improve acne conditions

*Make appropriate recommendations based on the treatment protocol to improve rosacea conditions

 

2 CPD Hours

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Understand the clinical examination of Melasma utilizing various systems
  • Analyse the differential diagnosis.
  • Analyse and compare the different treatment modalities available - topical and therepeutic.
  • Learn how to combine treatments in ourder to maximise patient outcomes.
  • Explain how to achieve a practical working algorithim for an approach to a patient with Melasma.

2 CPD Hours

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Understand the concept of body image and body image dissatisfaction.
  • Understand the diagnostic criteria for body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).
  • Understand some of the adverse outcomes for patients with BDD who undergo cosmetic procedures 
  • Understand some of the strategies that canbe used to identify and assist patients with BDD.
  • Understand the diagnostic criteria for Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.
  • Understand that patients with eating disorders may not benefit from cosmetic interventions.
  • Understand some of the strategies that can be used to identify and assist patients with eating disorders.

1 CPD Hour

Key Learning Outcomes (KLO’s)-

  • Describe the benefit of maintaining optimum nutrient levels for positive health outcomes. 
  • Identify key nutrients associated with positive health.
  • Outline the functions of key nutrients and describe any consequences of deficiency
  • Evaluate patient requirements for deit and suppmentation of key nutrients.

Laser Safety Officer Certificate

18 CPD Hours

This course and associated examination are recognised by the Radiological Council of Western Australia and Queensland Radiation Health (ED218) as a pre-requisite qualification for Laser Safety Officer under the Radiation Safety Act. In addition this course is a nationally acredited unit of competency (GDTLBT081A). Successful completion of this course will provide credit into the Graduate Diploma of Dermal Therapies and the Graduate Diploma of Cosmetic Nursing.

Analyse the Principles of Dermatology in a Cosmetic Medical Context

12 CPD Hours

This course forms the foundation for correct skin analysis and selection of dermal therapy procedures within a cosmetic medical context. The lectures focus on issues that affect the histological and visual qualities of the skin covering healthy skin physiology, the presentation and pathophysiology of dermatologic disorders, repair abilities and wound care. On completion of this course, students should be able to identify a range of dermatologic conditions in order to work in their scope of practice. Successful completion of this course will give you credit into the Graduate Diploma of Dermal Therapies and Graduate Diploma of Cosmetic Nursing.
