  • Understand body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and why BDD is considered to be a contraindication to cosmetic treatment

  • Understand the structural composition of fat
  • Define and explain the difference between saturated and unsaturated fats
  • Identify the health benefits of unsaturated fats
  • Define and explain the difference between essential and non-essential fatty acids
  • Understand the role of essential fatty acids in common skin conditions
  • Understand the importance of the Omega 3 to 6 ratio in reducing inflammation

3 CPD Hours

  • Describe the pathophysiology of all components of the cell.
  • Analyse the importance of cell ultra-structures
  • Interpret cellular responses and how they can contribute to changes in skin quality and ageing
  • Summarise the theories associated with the ageing process and why they are important.
  • Explain the effects of cellular ageing/damage and how it results in illness or disease.
  • Examine the role of the practitioner in this area.
  • Discuss how this contributes to the holistic care of the patient

2 CPD HOURS

  • Analyse the differential diagnosis.

  • Learn how to combine treatments in ourder to maximise patient outcomes.
  • Explain how to achieve a practical working algorithim for an approach to a patient with Melasma.

  • Understand the diagnostic criteria for body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).
  • Understand some of the adverse outcomes for patients with BDD who undergo cosmetic procedures

  • Understand the diagnostic criteria for Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.
  • Understand that patients with eating disorders may not benefit from cosmetic interventions.
  • Understand some of the strategies that can be used to identify and assist patients with eating disorders.
